The dance from the heart of the Maggiore towards the territory

There are places that don't just host culture, but become a hub where a community can encounter it, experience it, and recognize it as their own. In Verbania, this place is Il Maggiore, the heart of MAGGIORE_DANZA, a project by the Egri Foundation – Center of Significant Interest in Dance, part of IPUNTIDANZA, created in collaboration with Il Maggiore di Verbania.

The 2026/2027 season brings national and international artists and companies to the theater stage, along with productions from the Egri Foundation – EgriBiancoDanza, presenting different languages and visions of contemporary dance. But MAGGIORE_DANZA doesn't stop at the stage.

THE ISLANDS OF GESTURE

The Maggiore Theatre's programming is the backdrop for Le Isole del Gesto, a project that brings dance to the region through meetings, conferences, workshops, training activities, and programs aimed at diverse audiences.

Dance thus enters libraries, museums, and other spaces throughout the city, meeting children, young people, families, and adults, and creating new opportunities for participation in the local cultural and social communities.

Among these are the CROSS Foundation, the Landscape Museum Foundation, the Ceretti Library, the House of Resistance, the Sant'Anna Theatre, Auser Insieme Verbania, and the Marzo 21 Association. Each activity is a different island, but they all belong to the same archipelago.

A DANCE TO SEE, LIVE, SHARE

MAGGIORE_DANZA caters to those who already know contemporary dance and those who are approaching it for the first time. For this reason, alongside the performances, there are also activities dedicated to new generations, families, schools, adults, and enthusiasts, so that dance can be more than just a spectacle to be seen, but an experience to be lived, a language to be learned, and an opportunity to meet.

The Major is the heart. Dance is the language. The Islands of Gesture are the connections. The territory is the community with which to build the future.

MAGGIORE_DANZA is a season that starts at the Teatro Il Maggiore and opens up to the city, the region, and the world.
